Abstract

Eggs are one of the post harvest products that are easily damaged and have a relatively short shelf life. Preservation is one way to extend the shelf life and maintain the functional properties of foodstuffs that are easily damaged. This study aims to determine the effect of immersion on the quality of chicken eggs and duck eggs in ciplukan leaves extract with different containment periods and the interaction between containment periods and the type of eggs soaked with ciplukan leaves extract. The total eggs used in this study were 48 eggs. This study used a completely randomized design with a factorial pattern, with two factors, namely containment periods (15 days and 30 days) and the type of egg (chicken eggs and duck eggs). The variables observed were changes in egg weight, egg white index (IPT), egg pH and colour yolk. The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and continued with Duncan's multiple distance test at a 95% confidence level. The results of this study showed that the weight of eggs in the treatment of containment periods was significantly different (P<0.05), while in the treatment of egg types it was significantly different (P<0.05) on the egg white index (IPT) and egg pH. Colour variable yolk indicates the results are not significantly different (P>0.05). Soaking chicken eggs and duck eggs in 6% ciplukan leaves extract for 12 hours had an effect on egg weight, egg white index (IPT) and egg pH during storage. Abstract

This study aims to find out the effect of different levels protein and energy rations given to the body composition of bali cattle heifers. This research was conducted at Cattle Farm in Belok Sidan Village, Petang District, Badung Regency for 3 months. A total of 12 heifers in this study, were use and they were divided into three groups by their weights. Randomized block design (RBD) was used for experimental design. There were four different rations given those groups; Those rations were A consisted of 12% crude protein and 2000 kcal ME/kg of energy; B (13% crude protein and 2100 kcal ME/kg of energy); C (14% crude protein and 2200 kcal ME/kg of energy) and D (15% crude protein and 2300 kcal ME/kg of energy). Variables observed were water (%), fat (%), protein (%) and fat retention (g/e/h). This study showed that water and protein of the body were not affected (P>0,05) by above treatment of the body, on the contrary to the fat content and fat retention. The highest body fat and fat retention obtained in treatment D were about 20,33% and 85,81 g/e/h. Hence, it can be concluded that ration contain 12% to 15% crude protein and 2000 to 2300 kcal ME/kg metabolic energy not affected water, and protein of the body. This results were still in the range of the standard recommended. Where as 39,8%-77,6% for the body water and 12,4%-20,6% for the body protein. 15% of crude protein and 2300 kcal ME/kg of energy given resulted in the highest body fat and retention rates of 20,33% and 85,81 g/e/h, respectively. Abstract

Rarit is one of the traditional food products typical of the island of Lombok in the form of sliced ????meat seasoned with tamarind, salt and sugar and then dried. This research was conducted to determine the physicochemical and organoleptic properties of beef ribs using different types of sugar. In this study, the experimental design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and four replications in order to obtain 16 experimental units. The four treatments were: (P0) 100 grams of beef (abdomen) without treatment or control, (P1) With tamarind, salt and 10 grams of palm sugar treatment, (P2) With tamarind treatment, salt and 10 grams of granulated sugar. and (P3) With tamarind treatment, salt, 10 grams of sugar and palm sugar (5 grams of granulated sugar and 5 grams of palm sugar). The variables observed were physicochemical (cooking loss, pH and water content) and organoleptic quality (taste, aroma, texture and color). The results of the research on physicochemical properties showed significantly different results (P<0.05) against (cooking loss, pH and water content), while on organoleptic (taste, aroma, texture and color) were not significantly different (P>0.05). Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the beef tenderloin which was seasoned with cooking loss, pH and water content were significantly different (P<0.05) with the control, while the organoleptic test was not significantly different (P>0.05). Abstract

Inseminator merupakan salah satu faktor yang memegang peranan penting dalam keberhasilan inseminasi buatan dalam program UPSUS SIWAB yang dicanangkan pemerintah untuk meningkatkan populasi sapi di Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang berpengaruh terhadap kinerja inseminator dan keberhasilan inseminasi buatan (IB) dalam upaya menunjang program UPSUS SIWAB di Kabupaten Badung. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode survey dan pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara purposive sampling. Adapun variabel yang diobservasi adalah faktor karakteristik inseminator meliputi: umur, lama menempuh pendidikan, jumlah keluarga, waktu kerja inseminator, lama sebagai inseminator, jarak operasional kerja dan lokasi serta Kinerja inseminator meliputi: jumlah IB per tahun, persentase keberhasilan IB satu kali, Conception Rate dan Calving Rate. Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif dengan metode multiple regression dan dilanjutkan dengan metode stepwise untuk mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang paling berperan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan kinerja inseminator secara bersama-sama dipengaruhi secara nyata (P<0,005) oleh faktor umur (X1), lama menempuh pendidikan (X2), jumlah anggota keluarga (X3), waktu kerja inseminator (X4), lama sebagai inseminator (X5), jarak operasional kerja (X6), dan lokasi (Di). Melalui analisis stepwise maka diperoleh jumlah ternak yang dapat di IB pertahun (Y1) secara nyata dipengaruhi oleh D1 dengan persamaan (Y1) = 1275,178 - 422,978 D1 dengan R2 = 0,420. Untuk keberhasilan satu kali IB (Y2) dipengaruhi oleh X1 dan X2 dengan persamaan Y2 = 71,770 + 1,038 X1 + 1,970 X2 dengan R2 = 0,701. Sementara untuk conception rate (Y3) dan calving rate (Y4) dipengaruhi oleh X1 dan X2 dengan persamaan Y3 =0,621 + 0,012 X1 + 0,023 X2 dengan R2 = 0,477, dan Y4 = 0,573 + 0,011 X1 + 0,017 X2 dengan R2 = 0,371. Dari beberapa faktor yang teridentifikasi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa peubah umur (X1) dan lama menempuh pendidikan (X2) yang paling berperan terhadap kinerja inseminator dalam menunjang keberhasilan IB pada pelaksanaan program UPSUS SIWAB di Kabupaten Badung. Abstract

This study was conducted in April 2012 using secondary data that is the result of the project the Australian Center for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) AH 169/2006 on the cheap and effective biosecurity for broiler farmers sector 3 in Indonesia, meaning that the people who carry out farm biosecurity is limited. This study aims to calculate how much income and the value of R / C ratio in broiler farmers in Selan Bawak Village, District Marga, Tabanan regency. The number of farmers involved as many as 20 people each is a partnership of PT. A 11 people and PT. B 9 people. Data were analyzed by using methods of Financial Analysis. The results showed that the average total cost for broiler livestock business partnership is Rp 89,932,378 (A) and Rp92.854.805 (B), the BEP units = 1.379 tail (A), 1,380 individuals (B). Total revenue for the (A) Rp96.068.455 and (B) Rp 99,881,523. When the price per kg of live chickens in the contract is Rp 13.486 (A) and Rp 13 167 (B) then the revenue obtained is Rp 6,136,076 farmers partners A and B are Rp7.026.718. Based on the analysis of broiler livestock business with the partnership in the period March 10 to April 15 in 2012 showed a farmers partnership benefits A and B. Is evident from the results of the R / C ratio for plasma farmers A and B show the value of> 1 that is equal to 1.07 and 1.08. It means that the broiler livestock business with a decent partnership to be developed.

Abstract

This activity aim was to learn aplication of preventive deseases at P4S Mupu Amerta cattle farm, Banjar Sale, Desa Abuan, Bangli as student obligation for apprentice study at Animal Husbandry Faculty, Udayana University. This studi show that Mupu’s farm good preventive deseases  was aplicated, through biosecurity, sanitation, vaccination and others.  Biosecurity measure which is implemented in that farm including permanent stable, apropriate distance to neighberhood, has private equipment and tight selection for visitors. In addition to Biosecurity, Sanitation, was applied not only to make stable clean and tidy but also farm as a hole.  Vaccination, on the other hand, the owner regularly give their catle SE vaccine, vitamin and worm medication. In conclusion, in Mupu’s farm comprehensive preventive deseasses was applied and the student obtain knowledge on deseasses prevention.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui level energi yang mampu untuk meningkatkan kecernaan nutrien ransum pada sapi bali bunting 7 bulan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Stasiun Penelitian Peternakan Sobangan selama 3 bulan. Penelitian ini menggunakan 12 ekor sapi bali bunting 7 bulan yang diberikan perlakuan energi yang berbeda dan sapi dibagi dalam 3 kelompok sesuai dengan bobot badan. Pemberian level energi terdiri dari ransum yang mengandung 2000 kkal ME/kg (A), 2100 kkal ME/kg (B), 2200 kkal ME/kg (C) dan 2300 kkal ME/kg (D) dengan bobot badan awal 300 kg ± 23,31 dan diulang 3 kali. Analisis sampel ransum dan feses dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Nutrisi dan Makanan Ternak Fakultas Peternakan Universitas Udayana. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah rancangan acak kelompok (RAK). Variabel yang diamati dalam penelitian ini meliputi kecernaan bahan kering, kecernaan bahan organik , kecernaan serat kasar, kecernaan protein kasar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan semakin meningkat kandungan energi ransum, maka semakin meningkat pula kecernaan bahan kering, kecernaan bahan organik, kecernaan serat kasar sapi yang paling tinggi adalah pada perlakuan D namun secara statistik menunjukkan perbedaan yang tidak nyata (P>0,05). Sedangkan kecernaan protein kasar diperoleh semakin menurun dengan semakin meningkatnya kandungan energi ransum walaupun secara statistik hasil tidak menunjukkan perbedaan yang nyata (P>0,05). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian ransum dengan level energi 2000-2300 ME/kg, tidak berpengaruh terhadap kecernaan nutrien ransum yang meliputi kecernaan bahan kering, kecernaan bahan organik, kecernaan serat kasar dan kecernaan protein kasar pada sapi bali bunting 7 bulan.

Abstract

This study aims to compare males through the quality of frozen semen produced in the Technical Service Unit of Artificial Insemination Center of Baturiti Region. This study used frozen semen from 10 bulls those frozen semen then were evaluated then sperm motility, concentration and percentage of sperm live were observed. The design used in this study was Completely Randomized Design (RAL) and each treatment was repeated three times. The study showe that there was no signiticant difference (P>0.05) to all parameters observed of bulls rised at the center. Sperm concentration of all bulls ranged between 41.25x106 to 59.38x106 spermatozoa/ml. While sperm motility between 41.67% to 46.67% and the percentage live sperm, ranged between 21,05 to 32,50 %. It can be concluded that all the frozen semen produced from the bulls rised at the Technical Services Unit of the Baturiti Insemination Center is in good condition and can be used for insemination. Abstract

The study is titled implementation of biosecurity on broiler farms in partnership Tabanan and Gianyar regency. The research was conducted in the village and the village of Tabanan district Selanbawak  and  Petak Kaja village of Gianyar district which lasted for three months from the month of February until April 2012. The study site selection using the "purposive", and the determination of respondents defined by the census method is a way of making the response and by taking all populations (Singarimbun and Effendi, 1989). Respondents of the study amounted to 49 farmers who are all broiler breeder two villages in both districts. This study aims to determine the level of implementation of biosecurity on broiler farms in partnership Tabanan and Gianyar.  The data used in this study is primary data obtained directly in the field and using secondary data is the result of the project the Australian Center for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) Ah/2006/169 on a cheap and effective biosecurity for broiler breeders in sector 3 Indonesia (commercial farms that implement biosecurity very simple). The measurement variables using scores from the data obtained. Data processing and analysis using descriptive statistics. Each of these respondents were grouped into five categories da were scored. This score is expressed in whole numbers 1,2,3,4, and 5 for each answer. The values ??are then grouped into 3 sections in accordance with the implementation of bio-security in Pre Entry, Point of Entry, and Post Entry is then the value in each group was summed and averaged and then analyzed using SPSS 16 with Independent Sample Test. These results indicate that the level of implementation of biosecurity on broiler farms in partnership Selanbawak Village Tabanan better at Pre Entry (P<0.05), than in the Village Petak Kaja Gianyar regency. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the different between Balinese cattle breeders who were participating UPSUS SIWAB and non UPSUS SIWAB in Gianyar Regency. It was also to find out the level of understanding of breeders on the management aspects on rearing cows with calves. This research had conducted in Gianyar Regency for two months, where the number of respondents was 15 farmers on the UPSUS SIWAB group and 15 farmers on the non UPSUS SIWAB group, the method used was the survey method, using a questionnaire that has been compiled. Data obtained was analyzed using a two-sample free t test. There are 2 variables were observed such as the character of the bali cattle breeders and the management of the cows. The breeder's characters including: age, education, the length of experience, number of cattle own, the number of family members, and the reasons for raising cattle, and the management of raising cattle consists of: feed management, seed management, reproductive management and mating management. The results showed that there were no significant differences in the breeder’s character, including: the age and work experience (P> 0.05), similar to the level of understanding and knowledge of the breeders to raise their cows. Mean while, there were significantly different in feed management, reproductive management and marriage management (P <0.05). Howeever, there was no significant difference found on the aspect of seed selection (P> 0.05). It can be concluded that the characters of UPSUS SIWAB and non-UPSUS SIWAB participating cattle breeders are categorized not different, and at the level of understanding of the management of cows, the UPSUS SIWAB participant breeders have a better understanding in carrying out the management of raising cow, especially on feed management, reproductive management, and marriage management.
